'Fasting Mimicking Diets'

Saturday 3rd March 2018 | 6.30-8.30pm* + Q&A time

When the ageing process is out of control, we fall victim to chronic diseases like cancers, diabetes, Alzheimers, inflammatory conditions  and autoimmune conditions. All of these conditions are diseases of ageing; if we can learn how to control the ageing process within our bodies, then we may well learn how to evade chronic diseases as we age. This lecture explores our ability to control the ageing process using fasting and 'fasting mimicking diets'.

Thanks to Dr Valter Longo - a professor of gerontology and biological sciences and director of the Longevity Institute at the University of Southern California - we now have evidence of what kinds of foods, and in what quantities, are required to temporarily shut down the ageing pathways of the body to allow for true regeneration to occur within our organs and cells. This approach has been termed the 'fasting mimicking diet' and specifies how we can achieve the desirable results of a fast, without needing to fast in entirety. Heath will be discussing how Dr Longo's findings can be translated into practical lifestyle adjustments that are, quite literally, guaranteed to increase our wellbeing.

This lecture is suitable for those experienced in fasting as well as those who have never fasted in their life. The information has been lab tested for safety and is very achievable, even for those amongst us that don’t believe they could fast; a 'fasting mimicking diet' is for everyone and everyone will benefit from its application.

“For 20 years now, I have been working on the puzzle of ‘how to die healthy’; it is my life mission to work out how we can all live a long and fulfilling life without chronic degenerative diseases compromising our mind and body. The idea of dying slowly with Alzheimers or unexpectantly with a heart attack does not sit well with me as a natural health practitioner. For me, a natural life ends when we feel we have exhausted our body and time here from living a meaningful life and depart on our own terms. It is a lofty goal, I know, but it is the one I have chosen for my life’s work. Fasting has always featured as a major piece of this puzzle and now the ‘Fasting Mimicking Diet’ has just added potentially the most important piece yet.” - Heath Daly N.D

"95% of everything you do is because of habits" Aristotle

Health is a process of positive change and continual growth, it is a constant work in progress. You become healthier, not simply by making better decision, but by repeating the behavior of those better decisions over and over again until they become habitual, a lifestyle.

Anyone can do this & everyone can learn! All that is needed is a desire to change for the better and the ability to image what that would feel like.

Pick any aspect of your life - physical fitness, emotional happiness, relationship happiness, business, diet or spiritual richness - and assess it. Is it where you want to be? Do you need to make some changes? If so, why aren't you?

We will discuss the very latest in science regarding today's understanding of 'habits and cover the following questions:

  • What is a habit?
  • Why are they so hard to break?
  • How do we stop a had habit?
  • How do we start and maintain a new habit?

Learn how to build, create and nourish healthy habits!

This fascinating and entertaining lecture is a refreshing perspective on the latest and best of holistic medicine, introducing a practical approach to self-care that can be used and applied by each individual. Combining both ancient universal theories of Chinese Medicine with the best of modern evidence based Western Natural Medicine, Heath will be taking you through:

Detox Training explains the need for change in our understanding and application of detoxification, with Heath continuing the dialogue on how to access the natural flow of our optimal health.
Today we are faced with unprecedented levels of unnatural toxins that simply do not break down and circulate around and around our environment, of which we are a part, and hence a filter of.
These toxic compounds are bio-accumulating and sequestering in our fat cells and the fattiest organ in our body is the brain. Sadly, the fastest trending pathology facing our today is cognitive decline, dementia and Alzheimer’s leading the way, and hence detoxification is an important defence against this.

Detox Training is a protocol that teachers us how to monitor and nourish our body's natural detoxification processes in order to identify and eliminate these toxins from our fatty tissues. During this lecture, Heath will be explaining how to introduce a practical lifestyle adjustment into your own life, using food, supplements and natural interventions, specifically designed at up regulating the genes that cleanse both inside and out of the cells.
Use Detox Training to:

  • Loose weight
  • Break addictions
  • Increase your energy
  • Improve the lustre of your skin and eyes
  • Improve general healing and wellbeing

Your greatest asset in the pursuit of health and happiness is your mind. Until recently though, the scientific world largely viewed the mind as a mystery and was greatly underestimating its role in our healing.

Thankfully, advances in imaging technology have now facilitated a revised understanding of how the mind influences our physical expression of health, having now been scientifically verified that we all have the capacity to train our minds to exert control over our endocrine system, our immune system, our autonomic nervous system and our inflammatory processes in general.

With some simple techniques and a commitment to practice, we can each take our health to the next level, no longer having to believe that we are powerless in the face of many health challenges.

In this presentation Heath Daly – naturopath & co-owner of The Raw Kitchen, will be discussing:

  • The difference between the mind and the brain and how to optimise both for a better, healthier, more meaningful life
  • How to train your mind to control your autonomic nervous system, your body’s endocrine system and its immune response
  • How to dissolve the stress response in seconds
  • The top 5 simple bio-hacks for upgrading your brain function

The truth is that the majority of the chronic diseases that kill most people could have been prevented by living a lifestyle that maintains a healthy weight.” Heath Daly

  • Learn and understand how ‘fast carbs’ and sugars have created an obesity epidemic and crippled our lean legacy

“The  easiest and most valuable addition you can make to your diet today is to start making and drinking kombucha; it is as easy as making a cup of tea and as valuable as any other probiotic supplement on the market”

Long before cold pressed juice and green smoothies came onto the health scene, there was kombucha - an enzyme-packed, nutrient dense, medicinal, probiotic drink that has been known to man for thousands of years - it is the original ‘elixir’ of health.

At this public lecture, Heath Daly ND.HD, naturopath & co-owner of The Raw Kitchen, will highlight and discuss the many benefits of drinking kombucha daily, including how to make your own brew, before introducing the concept of botanical fermentation & discussing the multitude of benefits to be accessed by this technique.

One of the great things about kombucha is that it is a perfect vehicle to deliver added medicinals into your body. Botanical fermentation is the act of fermenting medicinal herbs into kombucha to create elixirs – liquid medicines.”  Learn how to make your own personalised elixirs!

Learn which herbs are ideal for:

  • Better sleep
  • Hormone regulation
  • Enhanced immunity
  • More energy
  • Inflammation and arthritis
  • And more…

GUT HEALTH | The Key To Wellness

Friday 6th May 2016 | 6.30-9.00pm

“All disease begins in the gut.”  Hippocrates

The quality of your gut linings and the diversity of microbes that inhabit your body ecology directly effect your health. Whether you are suffering from Alzheimers, high blood pressure, depression, allergies, fatigue, cancer, auto immune disorders, inflammatory bowel disorders etc, until you reclaim your gut integrity, you will not fully recover.

In this lecture Heath Daly ND.HD will discuss the role that the gut linings play in health and how to fix a compromised gut barrier with herbs, functional foods and nutriceuticals.

Heath will also cover the latest science on the role that the microbiome (gut bugs) plays in health and how to ensure you have a diverse and healthy mix of gut bugs.

What foods, herbs and lifestyle factors play a role in maintaining healthy gut ecology?

What happens when we take antibiotics?

How do we treat candida, SIBO and inflammatory bowel disorders?

“For those of us interested in taking control of our health, it becomes evident that the journey to maximise or rebuild our health begins with the gut. Building anything to last requires a solid base, a strong foundation. Health is no different; the solid base is gut ecology. Once a healthy gut is established, reclaiming health becomes a simpler task.” Heath Daly
